MXR M104 Distortion+ Analog Distortion Pedal

The MXR M104 Distortion+ is one of MXR’s most enduring distortion pedals, with a simple analog circuit that has remained a familiar part of guitar rigs since the 1970s.

Using germanium diode clipping, the Distortion+ produces a warm, raw distortion with natural compression and smooth breakup. At lower settings it can add mild overdrive and grit, while increasing the Distortion control brings in the crunchy, saturated character associated with classic rock tones.

Its straightforward two-knob layout keeps things simple: Output controls the overall level, while Distortion determines the amount of gain and saturation.
